Trinket

"Do not stir up nor awaken love...

Was I placed in your world to be mocked?
Is love spit upon and disgraced?
What do you see,
when you look at me?
Anger, guilt, hate, or shame?
Trapped in your own selfishness,
chained to your own sin.
Causing pain while accusing me.
Does it change who you are?
Did you accomplish your goal?
Destroying a heart.
Placed under your feet.
Trampled upon.
Spirits waring against one another.
A heart freely given.
A gift of love, compassion,
mercy, and grace.
In exchange
Used
Cursed
Broken
and Crucified.

Listen...
A faint heartbeat
It's still here
somewhere
amongst the pieces
a lowly
trinket.

...until it pleases."

What a beautiful poem. I really dont understand why people cause pain but somewhere deep inside they can never break our spirit. Loved it.

the souls perish in torment in the insensible hands of fate. why are the loving, not loved the way they truly deserve to be? why is their so much anguish and a feeling of getting lost in lonely world of desires? still it is the love that agrees to be the trinket again.

Only one person hit my mind as I read your poem---Christ... you sure know how to mix passion with modernity...

I love your poem...One book I was reading says, "It is a paradox; but love matures through pain and suffering" (Fr. Pedregosa,OP)... only God can bring fruition to that.

I read this poem aloud... again and again until it becomes a part of me...Bellissima!

We have different interpretations of your poem making it very rich. You have chosen the best words to express your pain. Beautiful song as well. Very good post!

@Rimly... Yes, I agree. I think hurting people tend to hurt others. Our spirit isn't broken, as long as we continue to love. Thank you for commenting!!!

@fantacy in practicality... Yes, we choose to continue in love. Regardless if others treat a heart like a trinket, rather than the most precious gift given. Sometimes it's hard for people to receive love. Thank you for your beautiful words.

@Melissa... Yes, very true indeed. I think through the pain and suffering, we become somewhat merciful much like Christ. A lot of times the one that is causing the pain, is actually the one that is hurting the most inside. We continue on, in love!!!

@BlogNostics... I love that others can interpret it in different ways and it expresses how they relate to pain. Awe, I love Rod Stewart and the song is very beautiful, indeed. Music helps heal our pain. Thank you for your SWEET comment.

I feel pain in these words..people tend to see the bad in on..shame...being big..instead of seeing the person for who they are...As always...XOXOXOX

@Jan... Yes, even in sorrow. Thank you for your comment.

@Bongo... Very true. Sometimes people can't see past their own pain, let alone see someone else. It's a painful process but we can still choose to love. Thank you for reading and FEELING!

Ugh, I feel the pain of this one. The betrayal. The deception. Stay strong sister.

@RachelHoyt Yes, it is a hard pill to swallow. I am strong, I think?! Thank you for the comment and encouragement. ;)
