Be Still

Sometimes you need to drown out the NOISE of the world,
in order to hear the SOUND of Heaven.

Autumn is my favorite time of year.  There is so much art in the scenery, outside.  You can smell the freshness of the season, in the air.  It's cozy time! ;)

I love to cook, bake, and entertain, this time of year, more than any other season.

But lately, I have felt cluttered in my mind.  Am I too busy?  Over committing myself?  Talking too much, or just involved in more than I should?

I don't want to miss out on this season and have it pass by, without enjoying it.  I need to spend some quality time with friends and family, but most of all... some QUIET time with God.

I started thinking...

What if, all of us turned off our TV's, cell phones, and computers, and we were just quiet, for awhile?

What if we took some time, to get outside and listen to the ocean, the birds, the wind, the rain, and the snow fall?

Are we missing out on the BEAUTY of this season, that was given to us and what it may GIVE back to us?

Thank you Pastor Jay!

There's a place I like to go, on Tuesday's (for one hour), to pray and just listen.  I can't believe how much I have heard, how much I have seen, and how much I have felt, during this short period of time.

I am so thankful for THIS Sanctuary!  It IS so refreshing and my soul feels REVIVED.

I wonder what ideas, dreams, and music, may spark inside all of us, if we took just one hour, to Be Still.

And know, that He IS...

GOD.

Tim McGraw ~ Still

"There's a place I need to go
Where the stain glass windows glow
Every part of me is known
Thank God I can go there
Thank God I can go there, still"

Wonderful post, Lisa. Thanks for sharing your heart. I, too, sometimes just need to turn it all off and meditate in the stillness of God and Who He is, and the beauty He has gifted us with in the world He created.

I have decided to start taking half a day twice a week, minimum, off from technology... at least for a while... and recenter in this way on the Living Love Who created us to love and to adore Him.

Oops spelling error... haha

AMEN!!! THANK YOU!!! I love that!!!

We can become so distracted and busy that we don't take time to hear Him.

I always joke and say... that's probably why He gives us dreams, it's the only time that we are still and quiet!!! hehe

This is one of the best reflections I read ~ well, all of your reflections are actually...

I love it when you say you take time to pray and just listen ~ 'when the world goes crazy ~ I can close my eyes' sung Tim McGraw ~ Oh, how relaxing just to sit beside the Lord...

I really have lots to share but it would be great to just sit quietly here and allow the words to soak in...

Yeah, we are "missing out on the beauty of this season", and I was also missing out the beauty of these blogs. Every now and then I see a link on Google+ or Facebook and I remember there is still a lot to read here (but I refuse to do it systematically - I like the idea of hidden treasures to be explored later...

I'm also missing out on god somehow. It was inevitable I guess, but maybe not permanent. Somehow, very slowly, I am recovering, but it's going so slowly, it doesn't feel like forward motion - but then, you say it, here, with those 5 words: "some quiet time with God", or even only 3 words (I like minimalism) : "some quiet time". Or, maybe ideally, the middle road: 4 words... "some quiet time with..." ... and the discovery of what exactly it is that is missing, is exactly what the quiet time is meant for. Some quiet time with ... our own questions; our own doubts; our own pains (and our happy moments).

Because in life, good things are often "in anticipation" I believe. Is there meaning to this... problem, this calamity, this pain, this solitude? Maybe the answer is often like this: "Not yet...". But we keep looking around, and while the leaves fall - and we are shaking like leaves - we see the colors and we wonder: why all those colors when it's "Fall"? Of course, it's about leaf pigments and biochemical processes of kinds... but somehow, it comes at the right time to enjoy it the most. Even the birds are silent - they sing their songs inside. And so we do.

Thank you, Lisa Marie, for yet another piece of mind candy. You have a real survival kit here :) <3

@jcm manuel: Awe, I love the hidden treasures, also. And I love the SURPRISE comment, too. hehe

This is so beautiful, what you said...

Thank you also, for the HUGE "mind candy" compliment. ;)
