November REIGN

A song can live in your heart... forever!

I LOVE when it rains. The rain has always reminded me of God's BLESSINGS pouring down from Heaven.  He said, "I will give you the former rain and the latter rain."

I believe the rainy season IS one of the best times to CREATE.  I have always felt inspired to write, when it rains.  It's cold outside but cozy at the same time.  I love to light candles, sit in front of the fireplace with coffee, tea or hot chocolate, listen to the raindrops and write.

At other times, I will just close my eyes and listen to music.  There are so many BEAUTIFUL songs written about rain.   Some of my favorites are...
'Kentucky Rain' by Elvis Presley, 'Purple Rain' by Prince, 'Fire and Rain' by James Taylor, 'Songs about Rain' by Gary Allan, 'She's my kind of rain' by Tim McGraw, 'Healing Rain' by Michael W. Smith, etc.

I could go on and on, but the ONE that I love the most is... 'November Rain' by Guns N' Roses.

I don't think we have fully grasped the true POWER of music and how it can affect us, change us and heal us.  Music heals our soul DEEP within.

I have found that if I read a quote, it might feel good for a moment and then it's gone.  If I hear a great message, I may remember parts of it and soon after, it will fade away and disappear.  But, a song can live in my heart FOREVER!  It doesn't matter how many years pass by, I will remember it.

Songs breathe inside of us and our heart SINGS them.  They are like SECRET love letters to our soul.

"Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs"

I thought, what if every time we spoke to one another, we sang a song instead?  Hmm... wouldn't that be interesting???  Our conversations would be completely different.

"you're like a candle, soft, delicate, peaceful, and bright"... x

Only a handful of people know this about me, but I also like to write back and/or talk back to songs.  I could be driving in my car and a song will come on the radio and I will answer back to the song.

Let me see if I can explain this?  Let's say,
'Purple Rain' by Prince comes on the radio...

"I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain"

I may respond to the song by saying, "I never meant to cause you any sorrow or pain either!"  Or depending on what I'm going through at the time, I may say something like... "Well, you did!"  haha

I know it sounds funny, but it IS actually great therapy and very HEALING.  You wouldn't believe what might come out of your HEART and how it effects your inner being.  You may even find yourself writing a song, within a song.

So, since today IS the 17th of November, I decided to show you a sample of me writing back to a song...
through November Rain!

"i can't do this alone, i need to know that you're with me 100%"... x

NOVEMBER RAIN ~ Guns N' Roses

When I look into your eyes I can see a love restrained
Yes, because of all the hurt and pain
But darlin' when I hold you, don't you know I feel the same? yeah
Yes, because you too know the pain... we are one in the same
Nothin' lasts forever and we both know hearts can change
Love never fails... one person just quits and gives up
And it's hard to hold a candle in the cold November rain
Not when the two become one... one to hold the candle and one to cover the flame
We've been through this such a long, long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain, ooh yeah
Much too long... the pain will subside when true love arrives
But lovers always come and lovers always go
And no one's really sure who's lettin' go today, walking away
True love never leaves you... never lets go... and never walks away
And if we take the time to lay it on the line
I could rest my head just knowin' that you were mine, all mine
. .... ...

Ok, well, I thought I could post the entire song but it IS much too personal. I think you get my point, though?!  ;)

"i've never met anyone that loves, the way you love"... x

Oh I love this post Lisa. Rain, Music and November jibe. You've quoted yourself several times beautifully regarding music and I totally agree that music heals our soul.

Music is so powerful and it IS retained more in the memory not only because of the melody that goes with it but because of the intensity of the emotions it stirs.

I also reply to the songs I hear :)

This post is one of the best I've read.

I loved it. Thanks for sharing November rain :)

This is simply beautiful what you said:
‎"Songs breathe inside of us and our heart SINGS them. They are like SECRET love letters to our soul"
November Rain seems like an intimate song to you and your words are very cryptic. Interesting post, I enjoyed it alot. Thanks, Jen

What a beautiful post Lisa. I too do that sometimes. You sing back to a song, I talk back to the words. So I could really relate to this post of yours.

Wow Lisa I really love this. I never thought of songs living in our hearts forever but I think you are spot on. November Rain is my favorite rain song. Your writing is very lyrical in content and I see the connection between you and Axl. Your writing is mystical, passionate and from the heart, much like his. I went back and read some of your other posts and Rose of Roses gave me chills. I absolutely admire the allure your writing brings. I'm a guns fan and yours too.

Totally agree with Melissa on this... that said...

Music indeed DOES heal the soul. It can cause pain but heals it again, too... and the idea of interacting with the lyrics as you have is a wonderful idea. I've done so out loud but never written them, so perhaps I will try it before I move... who knows what will happen? ;)

Godspeed, and always a pleasure reading your blog... learning and growing with your writings as God inspires them...

Hi, Lisa.

I thought I'd commented on this post before, but I obviously haven't. You know my opinion of Gary Allan, so 'Songs About Rain' is an ace song...as is 'Yesterday's Rain'.

I love your idea of writing back to songs...I will have to try it, because I listen to enough music and meaningful songs that I think it'd be a beneficial exercise.

Much love, take care,

Casey

Music is the universal language which speaks to our souls. With you, I retain much more information through song than the spoken word. May we always rejoice when "Singing in the Rain"!
Beautiful post, Lisa Marie!
Blessings!

This is a lovely post, so generous. I often wonder what people would think if they knew the unique things I do when no one is there to see. Lol! But maybe people would be able to relate to it anyway, as I did to yours.

@Martha J. M. Orlando: AMEN!!! Thank you for the BEAUTIFUL compliment, I truly appreciate it. Yes, REJOICE while singing in the rain. ;)

@Adriene: Yes, I think they probably would. We'd be surprised, that others may feel the same way we do or do similar things. haha Thank you for reading and commenting.
